Last coal plant in the US Pacific Northwest to be shut by 2025

Getting serious about climate solutions means shutting down coal plants, starting with the old dirty ones.  Washington State just announced an agreement to shut down the last coal plant in the Pacific Northwest, the first boiler by 2020 and the 2nd by 2025 (another facility is already scheduled to be closed by 2020).  The real action, of course, should be in the Midwest and South, where most US coal plants are located, but we need to celebrate the small victories along the way.

For more details on the characteristics of US coal plants, see my article “Defining a Standard Metric for Electricity Savings,” which is freely downloadable.
