This 1991 Shell documentary on climate still holds up well
The oil industry has known about the climate problem for a long time, which makes their resistance to actions to reduce emissions somewhat problematic (that’s an understatement). This video from Shell dated 1991 is exemplary in how it treats climate science, and it stands up really well. That speaks to just how well established climate science really is.
We knew the outlines of the climate problem in the late 1980s when we wrote the first comprehensive treatment of a 2 C warming limit (warning, 100+MB file!). The intervening decades have filled out the picture, but the basic story remains the same.
I highly recommend this 1991 video, especially for those who are skeptical about climate science. Shell lays out the case for climate action really well, although the intervening quarter century of technological progress has opened up new options for reducing emissions that could only be imagined in 1991.
